Discover the pride of Africa- Savuti lies within the Chobe National Park and boasts one of the highest concentrations of wildlife on the African continent. Savuti is famous for its predators, particularly its resident lions and spotted hyaena populations but you will also be able to see giraffe, elephant, zebra, impala, tsessebe, roan, sable, wildebeest, kudu, buffalo, waterbuck, warthog, eland, jackal, bat-eared fox and possibly even cheetah and wild dog.

Savuti has an excellent new campsite. Lying 172 kilometres southwest of Sedudu gate, Savuti camping ground overlooks the Savuti River channel, which is currently dry. Geographically, Savuti is an area of many unknowns. One of the greatest mysteries is the Savuti Channel itself, which has over the past 100 years inexplicably dried up and recommenced its flow several times. The present dry period started in 1982.
The parched grasslands of the Savuti are boosted into life with the onset of summer rains from November to March, and thousands of Zebras and many Elephants migrate south from the Linyanti to gorge on the abundant grazing. The pans fill with water and several remain wet long into the dry season, enabling animals to remain in the area.

Bird species that can be seen around the Savuti marsh include secretary birds, kori bustards and redbilled francolins. Summer migrants and aquatic birds include Abdim's storks, carmine bee eaters and even Fish Eagles. Birdwatchers can enjoy the gathering of Quelea finches in April when a single flock could contain thousands of these small birds.
