Camp Khwai

Journey into the heart of the Moremi Game Reserve, an intricate part of the Okavango Delta comprising permanently swamped areas, seasonally swamped areas, and dry land allowing for vast eco-diversity and in turn an attractiveness to visitors . The area is extremely beautiful, composed of vast grass flats, low tree-covered ridges and lagoons.

There are four public camping grounds in Moremi: Magwee, Khwai, Third Bridge and Xanaxa and we chose one of the more beautiful areas to set up camp and therefore allowing guests to experience a sense of Africa, but with a difference - where old meets new.

Khwai situated at the north gate entrance of the Moremi Game Reserve and on the banks of the Khwai River is one of the best safari destinations in Botswana, with vast open floodplains bordered by mopane forests. The name Khwai is actually derived from a river in Moremi. The Khwai River, the eastern most branch of the Okavango Delta forms part of the northern border of the Moremi Game Reserve and brings water to an otherwise arid area and attracts a spectacular array of animals: Lion, Leopard, African Wild Dog and Cheetah are frequently encountered whilst Elephants are common throughout the reserve as are Giraffe and Zebra as well as numerous antelope. Crocodiles are found in all the flowing channels in the Reserve and therefore swimming is prohibited.

Game walks and night drives are two things not prohibited in the Moremi Game Reserve, but are allowed outside of the Reserve

Camp Khwai is a permanent campsite adjacent to the public campsite offering guests a home away from home. Five permanent luxury walk in safari- tents equipped with all the comforts: 2 comfortable beds, linen, blankets, pillows, and towels with en-suite bathroom with a shower and toilet.  Guests will be able to relax and unwind in the comfort of their safari tent or in the main lounge area. Meals will be served in the dinning room or in the open court yard (weather permitting).

Guided activities are offered, with the focus on game drives and walking activities (bearing in mind the night game drives and walking activities will be done outside of the Reserve).
